A Luminary of Wearable Art, ONCH Drops Genesis NFT Project

Remember Nicki Minaj’s Ice Cream Cone Necklace that she wore to accept her VMA for Best Rapper of the Year in 2011? That was ONCH.

Since 2004, ONCH has been creating wearable art for a list of VIP clients, from Kim Kardashian to Kate Moss. And now the king of wearable art is dipping his toes into the NFT game with his genesis drop on MakersPlace, tomorrow at 12pm EST.

Browsing ONCH’s Instagram reveals that the artist has truly designed wearable pieces for everyone you could think of. This is a personal favorite of mine:

Now, ONCH—who has been featured in Vanity Fair, the NY Post and Forbes, to name a few—is heading into the NFT space to raise money for Stop Asian Hate. So far, his IG only shows previews of what the drops “might be,” but luckily ONE37pm got access to some of the full images of the incredible drop—check them out below.

10% of the proceeds from the drop will be going towards the Stop Asian Hate initiative. This project further demonstrates one of the amazing opportunities opened by NFT tech; as the pandemic has restricted some traditional in-person fundraising, NFT drops like ONCH’s reveal other ways for artists to raise money for good causes. In addition to the digital asset, folks will receive a custom piece of jewelry from ONCH with a certificate of authenticity for buying the NFT for the first time. NFT projects that link physical assets to the purchase are truly the best.
