It’s not often that a new color comes around and sweeps the men’s style scene. The world of womenswear was on a Millennial Pink kick for a while, then came Gen Z Yellow. But I’m really excited to forecast the next trending hue, backed by the designers showing at this month’s Paris Fashion Week. It is downright delicious.
Meet Mint Chocolate Chip Green. It most closely resembles the delectable ice cream flavor—which happens to be my favorite of all ice cream flavors—but instead of gracing your cone, it can grace your bod.
Categorized by that irresistible light-green tone, Mint Chocolate Chip Green is more sherbet-like and pastel than slushie-like and saturated. If you can compare a tub of Häagen-Dazs to your fit, you’re headed in the right direction.
Take a look at these dripping fits from the men’s shows at Paris Fashion Week that back up my theory. You’ll never eat another cone the same way again. Scoop it up, y’all.
Try the ice cream trend in two ways: Go fancy with a new take on the tuxedo or scoop up the hue in an oversized peacoat with strong lapels.
Though not the mintiest of greens, Dries Van Noten showed this particularly striking jacket with delicious green accents.
Mike Amiri nails the Mint Chocolate Chip Green, first in a striking, metallic paisley embroidered suit and then in a covetable mint green double-breasted blazer with an intricately embroidered sash. These are the sartorial equivalent of having one baby scoop or eating the whole pint.
Virgil Abloh took over an entire city square in Paris to present his Mint Chocolate Chip Green-laden collection, and we are so here for it. These pieces feel particularly fresh and refreshing, just like a giant scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream on a hot summer’s day.
How do y’all feel about this trend? Are you gonna take a bite?
